What we collect on this site, why, and how to get it changed or removed.

Effective 1 September 2026 · Last updated 1 September 2026

The short version

We collect your email and whatever you tell us when you fill in a form, and we use analytics cookies to count visits. We do not sell your information, we do not advertise to you, and we do not use it to train models. Email operations@thegridsight.com and we will tell you what we hold or delete it.

Our research reports quote people from public records and published news. If you are named in one and want it corrected or removed, section 6 explains how.

Who we are

The GridSight measures how communities respond to energy and data center projects. We publish a Local Sentiment Index built from public records, published news coverage, publicly available online discussion and search-behavior data.

This policy explains what we collect from visitors to thegridsight.com, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website. It does not cover other companies' sites we link to.

Controller: Amaral Consulting LLC, trading as The GridSight, Brentwood, TN. Contact: operations@thegridsight.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

We collect what you type into our forms. There are two:

We do not ask for payment details, government identifiers, or sensitive personal information through this site, and you should not send them to us through it.

Information collected automatically

We do not have user accounts or logins on this site, so we hold no passwords.

Cookies and tracking

We use Google Tag Manager to load two things: Google Analytics 4 and the HubSpot tracking code. Between them they set the following:

Set byPurposeTypical cookies
Google Analytics 4Counts visits and shows us which pages get read, in aggregate_ga, _ga_<id>
HubSpotRecognizes returning visitors and links form submissions to the pages someone readhubspotutk, __hstc, __hssc, __hssrc
Google Tag ManagerLoads the above; sets no cookies of its own—

We do not currently show a cookie banner, and these load for every visitor. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or browse in private mode. Blocking them does not affect anything on the site except our ability to count the visit.

We do not run advertising pixels, and we do not use these cookies to build profiles for advertising.

How we use it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not use it to train machine learning models.

People named in our research

This section matters more here than on most websites, so we are being explicit about it.

Our market reports draw on the public record: council and commission minutes, planning filings, permits, public hearing testimony, petitions, litigation, published news coverage and publicly visible online discussion. Some of that material identifies people: elected officials, agency staff, developers' representatives, organized campaigners, and residents who spoke on the record at a public meeting or were quoted in a published news story.

Where we name someone, it is because they were acting in a public capacity or their words were already published. We quote to characterise the substance of local concern, not to draw attention to individuals. We aim to:

If you are named or quoted in one of our reports and want it corrected or removed, write to operations@thegridsight.com. Tell us the page and the passage. We will review it and reply. Where the material is a factual record of public proceedings we may decline to remove it, but we will tell you why, and we will correct anything that is inaccurate.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under their own terms:

ProviderWhat they do for us
HubSpotForms, contact records, email sending
GoogleAnalytics and Tag Manager
GoDaddyWebsite hosting and server logs

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims. If the business is ever sold or merged, contact records may transfer as part of it; we would say so here first.

How long we keep it

Ask us and we will tell you what we hold on you, or delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have these rights too. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we do not process it for targeted advertising.

To exercise any of this, email operations@thegridsight.com. We will respond within the time your local law allows, and sooner if we can. If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Where your information goes

We operate from the United States and our providers are US-based. If you contact us from outside the US, your information will be transferred there. Our providers use standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards for transfers out of the UK and EEA.

Children

This site is aimed at professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Third-party data and links

Our project tracker uses the Compute Atlas dataset under CC BY 4.0. That dataset describes facilities, operators and locations. It is business information, not personal information about you, and it is not connected to your visit in any way.

We link to news outlets, government sites and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you directly.
